Everyday the sun rises and a new day begins. Each morning our bodies have rested and we are in a new place…
Just at that time when you open your eyes, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Is it, “Oh no, I’ve got to go to work”…or “I need more sleep.. the kids kept me up” or could it be…”Bring it on world… I wonder what awesome things are gonna happen today?!”
…What are your first thoughts? After last week spending time with my nephew and niece I am interested in returning to how they see the world. They’re full of life and I can tell you they see everything as exciting and new. To me, those feelings best describe what well-being is….a sense of eagerness coupled with a sense of excitement. Is it easy to feel like that again? Hmmm… maybe not at first… but with practice… yes!
I love this quote and it applies to what the theme is today. Good morning habits.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit”. Will Durant
Basically what Mr. Will Durant is saying is our success whether it be in health, relationships, business or money boils down to the little things we do, or should I say, repeatedly do. So what successful habits can we can incorporate into our morning routine? And what is the best morning routine?
The best morning routine is one that makes you feel good and empowered. It’s different for everyone. Some of the most successful people on the planet all have a morning routine they adhere to and share in interviews. My morning routine has developed into quite a few actions but one thing I do is to give myself a good hour to ease into the day before I leave home for work or meetings.
When I first awake I say a prayer of thanks and ask “why am I so blessed”? And… “I wonder what awesome things will happen today?” I like to settle into those thoughts, not to trying answer them, but enjoying that sense of eagerness. I get up, drink some water, go to the mirror (speak to myself lovingly; something I learned from the great Louise Hay) brush my teeth, shower, have a quick yoga stretch, finish getting dressed to some upbeat music on my playlist and then sit to meditate for 20 minutes.
After meditation, I write my intentions for the day which is followed by a delicious breakfast. It’s always healthy and supports my body. And for the last 6 months or so I enjoy a green juice too!!
After breakfast I read something inspiring before answering emails etc.
Each of us is different. What works for you may not work for someone else.. but what’s important is that you feel good and are not in a rush first thing in the morning. So if you haven’t already, create a routine that puts you in a good mood for the day because when you feel good you will create positive momentum throughout the day; and that’s when the cells of your body will thrive and thank you for it with good health. It will also net you results in little ways like parking spaces, seats on trains, etc.
It’s all about the feel good factor. What good actions can you add to your daily morning routine? Because remember, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
Empower yourself with good habits!
Live well. Live inspired.
